League Results from Tuesday 16th September

Week 3 of the City Air Express Carrick & District Pool League saw The Swift keep hold of top spot with a convincing win over the Alpha 12-2 with hat-tricks for James Meredith, Rab Butler and manager Paul Roberts. Newcomers the Doagh Weapons kept up the pressure on the leaders with a solid 10-4 win away to the Eastway New signing Rab McCullough continues to impress with another fine hat-trick while Craig Laughlin, Ian Britton and Robert Wilson all took braces. The Hit Men & Her got back to winning ways hosting the Whitehead Trojans with a sound 10-4 win.  Sara Greenberg led the way with a fine hat-trick and new signing Mark McMeekin bagged a brace on his debut. The Scorpions continued their strong start to the season with a tight win over the 2012 champions, the Spartans, winning both sessions 4-3.  Best for the visitors were Raymond Crowe 2/2, Darren Whiteside 2/3 and Paul Kerr also 2/3.  Spartans players Lee Topping and Kenny English both scored fine braces. With all 3 Greenisland teams at home you wouldn’t want to be the only visiting team but the Teddy Bears were up for the challenge.  Starting as a champions' performance, the Galacticos took the first 3 frames.  However the Teddy Bears showed they weren’t there just to make up the numbers, winning the next 5 to take a 2 frame lead, both teams traded the next 4 frames before the Teddy Bears won the last 2 of the match to record the first shock of the new season. Adam Moore scored a very cool headed hat-trick, Stuart Kelly and Tom Boyd both with braces. Over on the other table the GWMSC team were having a similar evening with the newly formed Colts leading the match from the beginning until they were caught at 6 each, Joe Patton and Andy Galloway steadied the ship winning the last 2 frames to take the match 8-6.The evening’s shocks were not over as last year's third place finishers, the Cowboys, played Clare Roberts' Warriors.  The first half was a tight affair with the Warriors leading 4-3 at the break however the second half was a different affair with the Warriors winning every frame to take the match 11-3. Johnny Johnston & Gee Crawley scored hat-tricks on their full debuts with Stuart Lennon & Derek Baird both scoring a brace.
