City Air Express Knockout Cup holders, the Swift, opened their defence away to Glen Burns’s GWMSC. However it wasn’t to be manager Paul Roberts’ night as for every frame his team won, the Greenisland men won 2.  Going into the break 5-2 down, the Swift men set out their strongest order only to come up short, thanks mainly to a fine hat-trick from Andrew Macky, a brace from Hugh Regan and the rest of the team chipping in, best for the holders was Rab Butler with a brace.Greenisland Colts travelled to Doagh for the second time in 3 weeks to take on the Weapons, hoping for a better outcome than their last league encounter.  It was not to be with the Weapons running out 8-3 winners and maintaining their 100% start to the season. Best for the Weapons, John Barrons and Michael Higgins with 2/2 and Rab McCullough 2/3.League Champions The Galacticos travelled to take on a very in-form Eastway team and the Rathcoole men didn’t disappoint.  With the Galacticos on the hill at 7-4 up, the Eastway men won the last 3 of the match to force a tie break, but it wasn’t to be as Paul Harris held his nerve to complete his hat-trick and take his team into the quarter finals 8-7.The Cowboys enjoyed the luxury of a full strength squad available and, unfortunately for the visitors the Alpha, it showed with Hugh McMurty’s men running out 8-nil winners.  Best for the Cowboys were Alan Corrigan with a fine hat-trick and braces for Tom Leggett and Hugh McMurtry.Still full of confidence from their defeat of the champions last time out, the Teddy Bears travelled to Whitehead to take on the Trojans.  With very little to separate the teams, the Teddy Bears progress to the next round after winning both sessions 4-3. Best for the Teddy Bears was manager Dee McIlwaine 2/2 and for the Trojans Stevie Hamilton with yet another hat-trick.Scorpions edged out the Spartans for the second week in a row. The match was level at 5-5 but Scorpions Colin Montgomery Sr sealed the win with a precise 8 ball clearance in frame 13 for an 8-5 win. Darren Whiteside scored 3/3 and Paul Kerr 2/2 for the hosts

Next week’s League fixtures throw up some table challenging matches.  New boys on the block Doagh Weapons face their first real challenge away to GWMSC, can the Champions steady the ship as they travel to a rejuvenated Scorpions and can the Swift hold on to top spot travelling to an in-form Teddy Bears.  Elsewhere the Spartans will hope to stay in contention with a tricky in house match with the Trojans, Eastway travel to the Cowboys and the HM&H travel into unknown waters as they take on the Colts. Rounding up the week’s action Clare Roberts takes her ever improving Warriors to face the Alpha.
