In the clash of two of the title hopefuls, it was GI Galacticos who took the honours away to new boys The Swifts. Last years Runners Up Spartans were relieved to leave Greenisland WMC with a point after trailing 5-7 with two to play. For the hosts H.Regan, A.Galloway and D.Harris all scored doubles as did S.Johnston and debutante D.Cooper for the visitors.
Michael Lowry's Barbarians caused an upset by beating Jonny Thompson's Scorpions 9-5 mainly due to a fantastic first session when they raced into a 6-1 lead. M.Porter and T.McConnell both registered fine hat tricks for the Barbars.
In a very close match in Carrick GRSC, Andy Lindsay's Teddy Bears came back to record a close 8-6 win over Hugh McMurtrys Cowboys. P.McCaffrey had a break and dish for the visitors.
Whitehead Trojans got their first points on the board with a convincing 10-4 win at home to Alpha, winning both sessions by a 5-2 scoreline. E.Gribben bagged his second hat trick in two games for the Trojans.
HM&H emulated the Trojans scoring pattern away to Eastway, winning 5-2, 5-2 for a similar end result.
