CITY AIR EXPRESS Carrick & Disrict Pool League is officially underway with the first round of fixtures being played on Tuesday 3rd September. There were no real surprises but 39ERS and Cowboys were pushed all the way by Trojans and Warriors respectively. Wayne Lewis won frame 13 for debutantes 39ERS to get them over the line after they had earlier led 6-1 and looked to be running away with it. Iain Britton won 2/2 as did Gary Cowan. Eddie Gribben excelled for Trojans on his debut winning 3/3. Chris Carson won the all important 14th frame to guarantee the Cowboys a winning start and 3 points in the Brown Cow Inn. Spartans were not looking forward to a tricky opening fixture at HM&H but they put on a strong performance to run out 11-3 winners.  Tops for Spartans were Bill McIlroy Sr with a fine hat trick and new captain Robert Hawkins also with a fine hat trick. Andy McMeekin won 2/3 for the hosts including a break & dish in which he potted 4 reds from he break but went with yellows and duly cleared the table. Greenisland Galacticos signalled their title ambitions intent with an 11-3 win over stablemates Barbarians, and Glenn Burns's Greenisland Club overcame Teddy Bears by 9-5. Matches involving Rathcoole teams Alpha and Eastway were both cancelled due to the passing of Eastway player Jim Kitson, father of Mark who Captains the Alpha Pool Team
