Finals night was held in Whitehead GRSC on Monday 13th May as four qualifyng teams competed for the trophy. Results as follows -

Semi Finals
Rockers 4-1 Scorpions
Whitehead Trojans 4-3 Barbarians

Final
Rockers 4-3 Whitehead Trojans

What a gallant effort in the final from Whitehead Trojans as they vied to become the first team ever from the "bottom half of the table" to win the Memorial event in the 9 years it has been played. In frame 1 Neil McFaul took out a fine clearance against Rockers Captain Andy Arbuthnot but missed the black, he was fortunate to get another shot at it and made no mistake second time round. Shaun McAlister ousted Trojans stalwart Stephen Hamilton to level at 1-1, but Tristen Scott-Heyes restored Trojans lead with a fine cut on the black from distance. It was level again after the first doubles encounter as Arbuthnot and McDonagh eventually got past Hamilton and Stubbs in a drawn out tactical affair. Trojans were soon he hill though as the McFaul and Irvine partnership overcame Crawley and Butler. The excitement was mounting as the last 2 singles games started simoultaneously. Rockers struck first when McDonagh finished clinically against Irvine and it was all down to the final frame with the score now at 3-3. It was experience against youth as Rab Butler met Larne Under 23 Champion Martin Stubbs and it was experience that won the day as Butler pulled off a superb finish recovering well after running out of position several times. Well done to both teams on an entertaining final.
