Spartans 8-5 Pirates
This really was a match of 2 halves. Pirates probably played their best pool of the season running up a 5-2 lead at the interval. A.Moore, S.Millar and R.McMurtry all finished well to put the visitors 3-0 up. R.Hawkins pulled 1 back for Spartans but 2 more on the trot from H.McMurtry and A.Moore again gave the Harbour point lads a 5-1 lead. S.McWhirter won the 7th and final frame of the 1st session for Spartans who now trailed 2-5. In the 2nd session Hawkins had to use all his experience to contain a rampant Moore who was now on a hat trick. And the Spartans stand in Captain did just that to reduce the score to 3-5. S.McWhirter edged out R.McMurtry and a splendid break and dish from J.Kane levelled it up at 5-5. K.English got his revenge on R.McMurtry for an earlier reverse to put the hosts ahead for the first time in the match and Hawkins completed his hat trick with a solid win to put Spartans on the hill. It was left to McWhirter to complete a great comeback which he duly delivered to send Spartans into a Quarter Final home tie against Greenisland. Best for Spartans were R.Hawkins and S.McWhirter both on 3/3 and for Pirates A.Moore scored 2/3.

Monkstown 3-8 Barbarians
In another match of 2 halves Monkstown and Barbarians were only seperated by a single frame, the visitors leading 4-3 at the interval. P.Henderson  x2 and S.Greenberg registered for the hosts with S.Mitchell x2, H.Regan and G.Harrington scoring for the visitors. But that was as close as it got with the ever improving Barbarians team running off 4 in a row to get over the winning line. Monkstown will be rueing a lot of missed chances in those 4 frames but Mitchell, Hay, Harrington and Gingles weren't in a forgiving mood as they sunk their respective 8 balls to put the away side into a Quarter Final tie at home to Scorpions. Best on the night was S.Mitchell on 3/3 and G.Harrington on 2/2.
