SKC Gaming Knock Out Cup Semi Finals

It was another fabulous night of pool for SKC Gaming Carrick and District pool League this week. Q Club hosted Galacticos in the semi-finals of the SKC GAMING Knock Out Cup.

Everything went the way of the Greenisland men as they raced to a 4-0 lead despite (admittedly) deserving nothing from any of the frames but the Q Club were not in the mood to be denied.

Alan Johnston, Kenny English and Ryan Scott brought the score back to 4-3 at half time despite the fortune the Galacticos were carrying.

Young Aaron Rolston gave his team a two-frame advantage though it didn't look on but, as usual, he ripped one out despite looking unlikely. Ed McDowell ended the night on the receiving end of two break and dishes ensuring he didn't waste too much chalk of an evening.

Trigger Whiteside took a tough frame against Alan Johnston before 80 denier tight adorned youthful prodigy Ryan Marcus edged the next to put the visitors on the hill.

Neil Mcfaul closed out a tight frame to ease the Greenisland men in to the final. Final Score Q Club 4 Galacticos 8

Whitehead Trojans hosted Scorpions in the recently refurbished Glasgow Rangers Supporters club. The pool table was impeccable which gave rise to a very high standard of pool.

Andy Quinn looked to be in control of the table but Darren Whiteside put the first frame on the Scorpions board with an unexpected finish from nowhere. One soon became two, then three with Lee McIlreavey and Michael Wilson taking advantage of some unforced errors. Stuart Kelly got the first frame on the board for the Trojans with a lovely finish before the Scorpions took the next 3 frames through Mervyn McIlvenney, Colin Rafferty and a swift break and dish for Chris Carson. 1-6 at the interval.

Darren Whiteside put the Scorpions on the hill but Trojans by name Trojans by nature. They did not let their heads drop. Andy Quinn began the come-back with a great break and finish followed by Stephen Hamilton chalking another up but it was too little too late. Captain fantastic, Mervyn McIlvenney secured the win for the Scorpions as they reached the magic number of 8. Final Score Trojans 3 Scorpions 8.

The final takes place on 13th December between Galacticos and Scorpions. They have both beaten each other 8-6 in the league this year and the final promises to be another tight affair with very little between these two power houses of pool.

Whiteabbey Royal British Legion is the venue and everyone is welcome to attend.

We also hope to go Facebook live for this final here.
