Rockets retake the top spot

There is a change at the top of the SKC Gaming Carrick and District pool league.

Galacticos has showed why they were favourites to win the league at the start of the season and nothing has changed. They stamped their authority on the match winning the first two frames via Gary Wallace and Aaron Rolston. Scorpions hit back with three wins, for Paul Kerr, a reverse dish for Darren Whiteside and a fine finish from Johnny Nelson to take the lead. This battle took another turn as the Galacticos hit back with 4 in a row with solid displays for Gary Wallace, Aaron Rolston, Shaun McAllister and Ed McDowell.
Darren Whiteside stopped the rot with another reverse dish before Aaron Rolston made a hat trick of wins and put Galactic’s on the hill at 7-4. Paul Kerr kept the Scorpion hopes alive but Shaun McAllister eased to the magic number 8 giving the Galacticos all 3 points. Chris Carson took the final frame of the match, which could be a very important bonus point for the Scorpions in their challenge this year. Final score Galactic’s eight Scorpions 6. Best for the Galacticos were Aaron Rolston on 3/3. Scorpions Paul Kerr and Darren Whiteside had 2/3.

The Colts welcomed Bowlers to Greenisland Working Man’s Social Club and got off to a flying start with wins for Glen Burns x 2, Jac
k Carson x2, Aaron Watters, Colin Beckinsale & Lawrence Armour all chipped with 1 each however if the Bowlers had taken their chances it could’ve been closer. The halftime score flattered the Colts 7-0. Ian McMillan pulled one back for the Bowlers.
Aaron Watters won ninth frame to ensure Colt has all three points. Jack Carson took his third frame of the night & Colin Beckinsale with his Second gave the Colt’s a 10-1 lead. Bowlers took the next two frames with wins for Gareth McIlwraith & Paul Ford. Harry Warwick won the last frame of the night to complete an 11-3 win for the Colt’s over the Carrick Bowler’s

Q Club got off to a flying start and got themselves a 5.2 lead at half time but some frames were closer than the scores suggest. The half time lead was too much for the Trojans to pull back and Tyler McKee wrapped the three pts up for Q club. Final score 9.5

Tigers vs Rockets
"They haven't gone away yet ya know”. It was hat-tricks all round at the Times Bar for the ever-impressive Legion Rockets. It was great to see the Nugget Andy Arbuthnot back to his brilliant best after the recent passing of his Father with his treble done and dusted in the first eight games as the Rockets soared to a 7-1 lead. Steady Eddie JJ delivered a double also with the Beast from the East Stuart McClean landing three! Special mention for Davy at the Double Break n Dish though! Superb. Rab Bagger spared the Big Dinky DONUT by a late win at the end.
Rockets head back to the top of the league with a fabulous performance. Final score Tigers 2 Rockets 12.
