SKC League Results from 15th November 2022

In the SKC Carrick & District Pool League this week top of the league Scorpions faced newcomers, The Bowlers.

Darren Whiteside got the ball rolling for the bunch of guys from the Times bar with a tight win. Paul Kerr doubled the lead and Lee McIlreavey made it 3 before Paul Kerr broke and dished to make it 4. Chris Carson Darren Whiteside and Darren Haddock made it 0-7 at the half time interval.

Bowlers took a time out to have a team talk and attempted to steady the ship but it was to no avail.

Paul Kerr put the Scorpions on 8 and secured the points. Lee McIlreavey x 2, Chris Carson x 2, Darren Haddock and Darren Whiteside secured the whitewash of 0-14. In all fairness a few of the frames could have went either way. Final score Bowlers 0 Scorpions 14.

Due to the unavailability of the Times Bar a late switch took place with the Q Club becoming the hosts and looking to bounce back after last weeks draw with the Colts.

Q Club got off to a strong 3-1 lead but credit to the Tigers for getting back into it ensuring there was only a 1 frame lead for the hosts at the break. The highlight of the first session being a classy break and dish from Birthday Boy Robert Hawkins.

The close frames continued in the second session and in frame 11 it looked like the Tigers would take the lead only for a costly foul to give Ryan McKillop a relatively simple finish to maintain the hosts lead.

This was what was needed for Q Club and they kicked on to win the next 2 frames to secure the win, Ian McCalmont sinking the winning black in frame 13. The Tigers left their first trip to Larne with a deserved bonus point, Steven Simpson winning the final frame.

Both teams turned with 7 person strong panels giving 2 frames each. Braces for Q Club from Tyler McKee and Ian McCalmont. The Tigers had braces from Tom McGurk and Steven Mcwhirter.

Good luck to the Tigers for rest of the season and we look forward to our trip back at the Times Bar.
