SKC Carrick & District Pool League Week 7 round up

The QClub hosted The Greenisland Colts

The Colts got off to a flying start with young Jack Carson giving the Colts a Dream Start with a Reverse Dish.
A vintage performance from the canny old fox Robert
(The Hawk) Hawkins levelled the match. Colts galloped to a 4-1 lead with wins for Aaron Watters, Harry Warwick & Andy Galloway. The last two frames before the break were shared with Ian McCalmont and Aaron Watters at 2-5 the Colts were one away from a bonus point. Jack Carson duly provided in in style with a break & dish potting all seven yellows only to hang the Black over the bottom pocket. In his next visit he found himself snookered but came off the top cushion to pot the black to take the frame Colts 2-6. Colts fancied a big upset was on the cards but the Q Club had other Ideas. The fightback started with a Break & Dish from the Robert Hawkins. Aaron Watters thought he’d won the tenth frame when he potted a hard Black in the corner only to see the white fly into the middle pocket, handing the game to Q Club’s Tyler McKee. Wins for Ryan McKillop, Robert Hawkins & Ryan Scott gave the Home Side a 7-6 lead. Andy Galloway stepped up for the Colts and produced a much needed big performance to level the match 7-7 and share the points in a great pool match.
Best of the night for Q Club: Robert Hawkins 3/3
Colts: Andy Galloway, Jack Carson, Aaron Watters 2/3

League Leaders, Scorpions hosted Trojans.
Darren Whiteside was first on the scoresheet for the Scorpions, quickly followed by Lee McIlreavey x 2, Colin Rafferty. Paul Kerr x 2 guaranteeing at least a bonus point before Alan Corrigan got a frame on the board for the Trojans.
Scorpions were relentless and started the second half in the same fashion with further wins for Paul Kerr with the cheekiest double on his last ball, Lee McIlreavey and Chris Carson taking their lead to 9-1 and securing the points and securing their number one spot (with a game in hand).
Trojans’ didn’t let their heads go down. Wins for Stephen Hamilton, Stephen Quinn and 2 for Joe Patton (which included a lovely reverse dish) made the score a bit more palatable for the Whitehead men’s journey home.
Men of the match were Scorpions’ Paul Kerr 3/3, Lee McIlreavey 3/3 and Trojans’ Joe Patton 2/2. Final Score Scorpions 9 Trojans 5

Rockets v Bowlers
The visitors got off to a great start with Aaron Reid and Paul Ford winning their first two, but then with a few to and frow frames the Legion took the next five and it was 5-2 at the break.
In the second half it was a similar affair, with some good battles on the baize, several frames could have gone either way, however the Rockets prevailed and won 5-2 in the second half and won 10-4 overall.
A great night had, with new introductions, the new Bowlers first match in the Legion, the first time a team that is actually based in Carrickfergus has been involved in quite a few years!!! Hats off to the Bowlers!
On behalf of the Rockets, we want to wish the Bowlers all the best of luck going forward!
Man of the match was Tristan Scott Heyes winning 3/3.
This important win puts Rockets into second place in the league.
Final score Rockets 10 Bowlers 4

Galacticos took 3 points against Tigers to
continue their 'under the radar' rise up the table to within touching distance of the top (with a game in hand) winning 10-4
