League Week 5 Update

This week in the Carrick and District Pool League Sponsored by SKC Gaming we had some great matches.

Colts (pictured right) hosted Galacticos in 'The Greenisland Derby'. This match always has a good

atmosphere & rivalry and this didn’t disappoint.
The Colts got off to a winning start as Glen Burns won the first frame courtesy of Trevor Whiteside potting the black ball out of turn. Gary Wallace levelled the match & Trevor quickly responded by winning the third frame with a fine clearance. Neil McFaul & Ed McDowell made it four in a row for Galacticos. The Colts' Colin Beckinsale & Jack Carson grabbed the last two frames before the interval to pull the score back to 3-4.
Glen Burns won his second of the night to level the match Trevor Whiteside & Aaron Watters shared the Next two 5-5 the Colts had chances to win a few more frames but it wasn’t too be as Captain Derek Whiteside, Ed McDowell, Neil McFaul & Gary Wallace closed the match out for the much favoured Galacticos 5-9.

Trojans took the points in the Bowling club.
Despite fighting hard this was to be another tough week for the Bowlers losing 4 - 10 to the Trojans.
The Trojans got off to great start, winning the first four frames and ending 6 - 1 up at the halfway mark. Trojan dominance continued, adding another three frames before the Bowlers rallied to take three of the last four frames.
Well done to Trojans Girvan Fleming, Stuart Kelly, Thomas Fleming and Stephen Hamilton who each got a brace. Bowlers team captain, Aaron Reid, also got a brace for the home side, his first wins of the season.
Great game played in the right spirit.

Rockets hosted Q Club
A good nip and tuck match was had! It was a pleasure to have the newly appointed Larne team in the Whiteabbey Royal British Legion. A great bunch of guys that would have any team slightly nervous about the outcome!
The first half was a back and forth battle, with Rockets going 3-1 up. Q Club fought well bringing it back to 3-3. Keith Machine was fortunate that Tyler McKee didn’t take out his last 2 balls, allowing Keith to finish his 4 yellows and the black, to give Rockets a 4-3 lead at the break.
The second session was similar at the start, with Rockets winning 3 of the first 4 frames. At 7-5 up, it was all about getting over the line for the Rockets! For the Q Club it was all about getting the draw! Keith 'The Machine' had other plans, as he was aiming for the hat trick (His manager had told him beers are on him next week if he won all 3 frames), so he did!! In the 14th frame, Rab Butler had his eyes on a hat trick too and William Irvine was playing to get his team the bonus point. William was able to dig deep and pull that bonus point out of his gut.
4-3 Rockets at the break. Ended with a good 8-6 win against a very stro
ng and experienced Larne side.
Man of the match;
Keith Machine Hunter - with a hat trick
Shot of the match - Stuart McClean's black.
Good luck to the Q Club going forward (a nicer bunch of lads you will struggle to meet)!

Scorpions retain top spot (on frame difference). Their match v Tigers was postponed.
