Carrick & District Pool League Sponsored by SKC Gaming Week 3 Round up.

Another lesson in League pool for the Bowling Club as the learning continued. First four frames were shared 2-2, followed by 2 for the Tigers. Bowling Club picked up the seventh frame to finish first set 3-4 down

The Tigers then took control winning seven on the bounce to win match 11-3. There were a number of close frames however all went to the Tigers.

Stand out player for the Bowling Club was Ian McMillan winning two out of three. Several Tigers also picked up two frames each in a comprehensive win.

Colts vTrojans

The Trojans travelled up the road to Greenisland Working Mens Social Club with a strong side & raced into a four frame lead with wins for Andy Quinn, Stuart Kelly, Alan Corrigan & Stephen Quinn. Colt’s Cpt Harry Warwick pulled one back saving a first half whitewash as wins for Trojans Cpt Girvan Fleming & Stuart Kelly with some sublime potting in the seventh frame to give the visitors a 1-6 lead going into the break.

With wins for Andy Quinn & Alan Corrigan, the score line increased to 1-8. Colt’s pair Aaron Watters & Colin Beckinsale gave a bit of hope for the home side winning the next two frames & with three to play hoping for a Bonus Point it wasn’t to be Stuart Kelly, Girvan Fleming & Gordon McCormick completing a 3-11 win over the Colts

Man of the Match with 3-3 was Stuart Kelly

In the top of the table clash Scorpions hosted Rockets at the Times Bar.

Scorpions got off to a flyer winning the first 4 frames with wins for Paul Kerr, Darren Whiteside, Lee McIlreavy and Colin Rafferty. Jonny Johnston registered 2 frames for the Rockets and Paul Kerr registered his second with a pinpoint break and dish to make the halftime score 5-2.

Darren Whiteside and Paul Kerr made it 7-2 before the league leader’s inevitable comeback began. Rocket’s Andy Arbuthnot and Rab Butler took the next with superb finishes, but Darren Whiteside stopped them in their tracks with an eight ball reverse dish, doubling the black to send the Scorpions to the top of the league.

It’s 3 points for a win, 2 for a draw and 1 bonus point if a losing team reaches 6 frames.

‘Merciless’ Mervyn McIlvenny took the next frame and put the bonus point out of reach. Davy Blair took final frame.

Final Score Scorpions 9 Rockets 5. Top cueists were Scorpion’s Paul Kerr and Darren Whiteside 3/3.

The star studded Galacticos postponed their match (with Q Club) due to some of their international players and manager attending the world championships in France.
