. What a week for Harry Warwicks Greenisland Pool Team. After knocking holders Spartans out of the Knock Out Cup on Monday night, they thrashed Alpha 12-2 winning the last 9 frames in a row, to move to top of the League table. Changed times up in the estate as a couple of new signings have made Greenislands a force to be reckoned with. There were hat tricks for R.McCullough, D.Blair and J.Patton.
. Champions Spartans on the other hand will be glad to see the back of this week and will look forward to having a break for the next 2 weeks to lick their wounds and regroup. They were comprehensively beaten by the Rockers in Whitehead by 10-4. The match was poised at 4-4 but Andy Arbuthnot's Rockers stunned the hosts with a 6 frame burst for game set and match. The consistent Arbuthnot was outstanding with a super hat trick whilst Darren Whiteside scored 2/2. Best for Spartans was E.McDowell with 2/3
. Hit Men & Her took the last 4 frames in the big Monkstown derby match against MSC Trojans to move into 3rd place just 1 point behind the leaders.
. And creeping along very quietly indeed, nearly unnoticed, are The Scorpions. G.Thompson won the 14th and final frame of their match for a tight 8-6 win over Whitehead Trojans. With some big names due to return soon from holiday, could this be their year ?
. Cowboys got their first win of the season beating the Warriors 10-4 as did Michael Lowry's Barbarians with an 9-5 away win over Eastway in Rathcoole. Teddy Bears move up into 7th position after their second victory on the trot, a solid 9-5 win at newcomers Jolly Beggar. Castle had their bye this week.
