Hit Men & Her into Semis as holders are knocked out

. Hit Men & Her wasted no time as they effectively had the match won by the half way interval. They raced into a 6-1 lead to leave the visitors reeling. And it wasn't too long until Andy McMeekin sunk the final black of the match to give the hosts an emphatic 8-1 win. There were doubles for P.Henderson, A.McMeekin and G.Russell. W.Irvine registered the sole frame for the Whitehead team.

Greenisland, so often the Leagues whipping boys came of age here tonight as they beat League and Cup holders The Spartans in a dramatic match that had everying including a sudden death shoot out frame. The first 7 frames were over in 40 minutes with some delightful pool from both sides, but as both teams edged towards the magic 8 the pressure in the room became tangible and mistakes were common. But it was G.Burns who was the hero for the hosts as he held his nerve to double a black into the corner pocket to compliment his earlier break and dish in frame 10.
