Greenisland Galacticos hosted Times Bar Scorpions. This match was evenly poised at 7-7 from the first leg.
The first frame saw Trevor Whiteside come out all guns
blazing as he potted his way to his penultimate ball. He faced his cousin, Darren Whiteside who had enough experience to play a patient and tactical frame
to put Scorpions 1 up. Scorpions’ Lee McIlreevy was a bit more hurried as he
ripped out a dazzling reverse dish in his first visit. Galacticos took the next
two on the bounce to level the scores at 2-2 (9-9) with wins for Ed McDowell
and a lovely finish for Neil McFaul. Paul Kerr put Scorpions in front and
Mervyn McIlVenney might have stretched the lead but after a great cut cross
double to sink the black the white found the pocket off 3 cushions to put a win
beside Aaron Rolston’s name. 3-3. Ed McDowell ripped out another nice finish
but also potted the black and the white. It’s in moments like these that momentum can
swing in a match of this magnitude. 3-4 (10-11) Scorpions.
At the half time interval Colts and Galacticos generously produced a lovely spread of
food for their guests.
It was now the business end of this epic match. Darren Whiteside went in after the interval and reverse dished Neil McFaul with a couple of doubles along the way (3-5). Lee McIlreevy broke and dished supremely (3-6). Darren Whiteside put the Scorpions on the hill (3-7). Michael Wilson went in on his first visit and ripped out a well-controlled 8-ball finish to secure the Scorpions place in the final.

leg Q Club took a commanding 10-4 lead in the race to 15.
Q Club ran out 5-3 winners on the night and 15 – 7 winners
on aggregate.
The final will take place on 23rd and 24th May in Times Bar and Q Club Who is at home first will be drawn on Friday night along with the 3 a sides draw.
