Home and Away Cup Semi Final Results

Galacticos travelled to Scorpions
Their team name comes from the Spanish Los Galácticos the nickname of the expensively assembled Real Madrid team of the early years of the 21st century; galáctico someone from another galaxy, denoting their superstar status. This is exactly what captain Derek Whiteside had assembled. a team of Northern Ireland International pool stars.

The Scorpions on the other hand are just a bunch of guys out for a sherbet in their local pub, the Times Bar.

Galacticos started brilliantly with a break and finish for Aaron Rolston. They were soon 0-2 up with another break and finish from Ryan Marcus. Lee McIlreevy attempted to stem the tide as he put one on the board for the Scorpions before Gary Wallace made it 1-3. Chris Carson took out a nice finish to stay in touching distance at 2-3. Aaron Rolston and Ryan Marcus swiftly put a stop to that with two more delectable finishes. 2-5 at the interval.

Scorpions' Darren Whiteside started the second half with a determined point. Lee McIlreevy got another one back 4-5 before Aaron Rolston stretched the Galactico's lead again. Chris Carson made it 5-6 and Paul Kerr levelled the scores at 6-6 when Neil McFaul inadvertently put the black in mid frame. Unbelievably the Scorpion bunch of guys took the lead with a fine finish from Michael Wilson before Northern Ireland's Team captain, Gary Wallace levelled the scores at 7-7. This match had it all: break and dishes, reverse dishes, kicks, unforced errors, a fabulous come back and great craic... and its only half time.

Colts travelled to Q Club in the Home & Away Cup semi Final first leg. Q Club have a commanding 10-4 lead going into the next leg also at Greenisland.

Q Club took a strong 6 frame lead in this first leg but it’s a score line that slightly flattered the Larne men.

Q Club took a slender lead at the break with a first half that included a smashing finish from Harry Warwick in the second frame and an excellent cut on the black from Andy Galloway in frame 5. Solid frames from Ian McCalmont and Ryan McKillop ensured a half time lead for the hosts though.

Highlight of the second half and even the match came in frame 12 with Ryan McKillop making a 5 cushion escape to pot his last colour and sink the black. The Greenisland men battled on to the end to try and reduce the gap but it came to no avail with Ian McCalmont and Robert Hawkins winning the last 2.

100% records for the Hawk (3/3), Tyler McKee (2/2) and Ian McCalmont (2/2). Star man for the Colts was Andy Galloway with a hard fought 2/3
