League Week 3 Round Up

This week in the Carrick & District Pool League sponsored by Times Bar

Unbeaten League leader’s ‘Trojans’ were taken by surprise by Galacticos as the Greenisland based side beat them 10-4 knocking them off the top spot.

Colts travelled down the Antrim coast to take on the Vikings. The visitors raced to a 0-6 lead with 2 a piece for Joe Patton, Paul Watters and Tucker Kidd with a break and dish in the third frame. Tyler McKee got one back for the Vikings. Joe Patton soon secured his hat trick to make it 1- 7. The Vikings give themselves a stern talking to and started playing some great pool to pull it back to 6 - 7 to get a bonus point. The last frame was a nail-biter which Tucker Kidd finally won. 6- 8 on the night. Great match.

It was another tight affair in Monkstown Social club. Reigning league champions, Scorpions came from 2 down to go into the interval 4-3 up.  Paul Kerr, Gary Wallace and Colin Rafferty put the visitors on the hill.  Hit Men and Her’s’ Robert Henderson, Andy Meeke and Paul Henderson dug deep to secure the draw and two points each.

Alpha are still without a win after Cockweasels trounced them 3-11

It looked to be plain sailing for Doagh Dragons winning the first 4 frames at a canter, but Tigers got back into the match with the next 2 frames. After that it looked like a foregone conclusion that the Dragons would storm to a win taking themselves to the hill with the next 3 frames. Times Tigers had other ideas though as Davy Flanagan kick started the come back with a cool dish from a dry break followed by wins for Alan Corrigan, Stephen Briers and John Fulton leaving the match at 7-6, securing the bonus point and giving the Tigers a chance at an unlikely 2 points when 7-2 down. Luckily for the Dragons, captain Kyle Kirkwood won the decider for the 2nd time in 3 matches for the 3 points to secure top spot in the league! Best for Dragons, Aaron Leslie, Ali Wilson & Kyle Kirkwood all 2/3, Best for Tigers, Alan Corrigan & Davy Flanagan both 2/3. Final Score 6-8.
