Greenisland Galacticos 8-6 Swift
Spartans 12-2 Warriors
Hit Men & Her 11-3 Alpha
Greenisland WMSC 4-10 Teddy Bears
Eastway 4-10 Scorpions
Doagh Weapons 9-5 Whitehead Trojans
Cowboys 11-3 Greenisland Colts
The Weapons kicked off the last matches of the season against the Whitehead Trojans and finished as they started with talisman Rab McCullough and Iain Britton both bagging well taken hat-tricks. Elsewhere the Teddy Bears continued their impressive season with a clinical performance against a poor GWMSC, Andy Lindsey and Stewart Kelly both signed off with well taken hat-tricks.

The Cowboys hosted this year’s new boys, the Greenisland
Colts. With family McMurtry in full
attendance, the Cowboys took apart the visitors with session wins of 5-2 and
6-1, Marty Goudie finishing his first season back as he started with a well
taken hat-trick backed up with a fine treble from Davy Douglas. League runners-up
the Scorpions had an impressive away win against Davy Flannigan’s Eastway with Paul Kerr and Darren Whiteside finishing with a well
taken trebles.
Clare Roberts’ warriors travelled to Whitehead and didn’t
have the best of evenings as they found an in-form Spartans team that only
dropped 2 frames with another returning player Ed McDowell signing off with 2/2
backed up by the ever-present Stephen McWhirter registering a fine hat-trick.
The Hitmen hosted Angie Carson’s Alpha and, as always the case with this, a
great evening’s craic. Paul Henderson and Andrew McMeekin
finished off their best seasons to date with another hat-trick and Sara Greenberg
added another hat-trick to her fine season’s collection.
And finally the match of the evening between the out-going
champions and the newly crowned Champions, Galacticos v the Swift. Paul Roberts’ men were aiming to go unbeaten
and of course the Galacticos really couldn’t let that happen. As most of the rest of us were tucked up in
bed these 2 teams were starting their second half, with the hosts leading 4-3
at the break the pressure was on the visitors. Derek Whiteside’s Galacticos
carried on with the script and pulled out a 2 frame lead before The Swift got
back on terms at 6-5 down. With the next
2 frames shared, the Swift manager put himself in for the last and still the
chance of going unbeaten. It wasn’t to be as Shaun McAlister held his cool in a
tense situation to close out the match in favour of the hosts 8-6.
A great season with some great returning talent making the
difference and shaking up the top half of the league, two new teams at either
end and not forgetting some future stars finding their feet in a highly
competitive league. With the league
settled, focus now moves to our end of season programme with the first running
of the 5-asides next Tuesday in the Swift kicking off at 7.30pm with the
Castle, Knockagh and Harbour Cups the following week with venues TBC.
Tuesday the nineteenth of May is the big 1 with the open
individuals also in the Swift - times and details to follow.
Good luck to all our teams travelling to Larne for the
interleague, Derek Whiteside’s B1 team hope to make it 4 in a row and A team
manager Darren Whiteside with his retro old school team hope to roll back the
years and all the very best to new B2 manager Tristan Scott Hays looking for a
successful start to his interleague career.
