League Results from Tuesday 21st April

Swift 8-6 Spartans
Greenisland Galacticos 8-6 Cowboys
Warriors 7-7 Hit Men & Her
Alpha 8-6 Greenisland WMSC
Teddy Bears 8-6 Eastway
Scorpions 8-6 Doagh Weapons
Whitehead Trojans 13-1 Greenisland Colts

The league resumed after the international break and with the Title decided there was still the small matter of finishing positions for the Castle, Knockagh and Harbour Cups.  With the exception of the Trojan demolition of the Colts, this week was the tightest of the season.  New champions The Swift entertained The Spartans, the only team they didn’t claim full points against all season, and looked to be in full cruise-control at 3-1 up.  However, a 5 frame burst from the visitors including back-to-back break and finishes looked to be the end of the run.  At 6-3 down the same 5 players that lost didn’t make the same mistake again, running out the last 5 frames of the evening with manager Paul Roberts taking the last of the evening and setting up an all Champions match next week against the Galacticos - can they go all season unbeaten?
The Alpha finally claimed their first win of the season against GWMSC.  With the visitors playing a 3-man joker, the hosts made sure of the 3 frames they needed to secure 3 points. Second placed Scorpions played host to the Weapons and with the scores at 5-2 in favour of the hosts at the break, the Weapons sent out the same player to play eighth who had played seventh, thus resulting in the loss of that frame which was the difference between the 2 sides The Hitmen & Her travelled to take on the Warriors and another tight match ensued, as when 1 side won 2 frames the other matched right to the last frame. Outgoing Champions the Galacticos took their unbeaten run to 8 with a tight 8-6 win over visitors, The Cowboys. With Dee Mac back in attendance, the Teddy Bears climbed to their highest league position in 2 years with a tight 8-6 win over the visiting Eastway.
All in all a very tight evening of pool, where a single frame made all the difference.  The player of the year is so tight amongst the top 5, we have left out stats this week and next. 1 league fixture left, with third to sixth places confirmed for the Castle cup at least 4 teams could move to either the Knockagh or Harbour cups.
