The
Greenisland Galacticos kicked off the evening’s proceedings with a whitewash
over Mark Kitson’s Alpha team with Johnny McKay, Paul Harris, Chris Carson and
Manager Derek Whiteside completing well taken hat-tricks, Trevor Whiteside with
a fine brace.
League
leaders The Swift played host to stable mates The Warriors and made short work
of the match, winning both sessions 5-2. Rab Butler was back on song with a well taken
hat-trick, also for the hosts Dee Irwin with a fine hat-trick of his own and
Andy Arbuthnot 2/3. Gee Crawley recorded a well taken hat-trick for the
visitors.
The Doagh
Weapons were under pressure going into the break 5-2 against Hugh McMurtry’s
Cowboys. However the second half was a
different matter with Rab McCullough and Iain Britton completing well taken
hat-tricks and Jeff Moore with a fine brace to take the second half 6-1 and the
match 8-6 despite another Marty Goudie hat-trick for the visitors.
In Monkstown,
the Hitmen & Her played host to second placed Scorpions. With both teams enjoying great form this
season this was always going to be a tight affair. With the hosts taking the
first frame, Scorpions manager Johnny Thompson kicked off a 3 frame burst for
the visitors, Paul Henderson & Tom McCorry took 2 of the last 3 of the
session to steady the ship going into the break 4-3 in favour of the visitors.
The Hitmen & Her took the first 2 frames of the second to take the lead for
the first time 5-4, Darren Whiteside opened his account to level the scores,
Paul Henderson then completed his brace to put his team’s nose in front 6-5.
Colin Rafferty & Darren Haddock took the next 2 frames to secure a point
and set up an all Managers last frame with Johnny looking to complete his
hat-trick and Robert Henderson after a share of the points. An unfortunate in
off the black meant a share of the points at 7 each. Best for the host P Henderson
2/3, A McMeekin 2/3 and for the visitors C Rafferty 2/3 & J Thompson 2/3.
The
Whitehead Spartans completed a hat-trick of demolitions with this week’s victims
The Teddy Bears on the end of a 11-3 drubbing. S McWhirter, K English & R
Hawkins all completed well taken hat-tricks with L Topping chipping in with a
fine brace.
The
Whitehead Trojans travelled to take on the Greenisland Working Men’s Club,
hoping to put recent form behind them. With
the scores at 4-3 in favour of the hosts at the break it looked like more of
the same. However the Trojans finally showed what they are capable of, winning
all but 1 frame in the second half to take the match 9-5. An all-round team
performance with S Hamilton recording a well taken hat-trick and duo of C
Hobson & G Fitzsimmons with fine braces, best for the hosts A Mackay 2/3.
