Champions Greenisland Galacticos entertained previous pace-setters the Doagh Weapons. With Johnny Mackay and Dean McDonagh available again, manager Derek Whiteside was very confident ahead of this encounter. Sure enough he was to be proved right as the Weapons seemed to have travelled without any ammunition. Other than Rab McCullough registering first in each session, there was no other addition to the score card from the Doagh lads. Best for the hosts D McDonagh 3/3, J Mackay 3/3 (1b&d), J McLean 2/2, C Carson 2/3 (1b&d) and S Carson 2/3.
League leaders The Swift, hosted new boys the Greenisland Colts. Paul Roberts’ team were able to relax knowing their nearest rivals would be up against it just to stay in touch. The Colts were always going to be up against it as the league leaders ran out 6-1 & 5-2 session winners, Stuart McClean following up last week’s hat-trick with a fine brace, Rab Butler ran out yet another 3/3 including 2 break and dishes, Kyle Kirkwood & James Meredioth added braces. Best for the visitors Colin Beckinsale 2/2
The Whitehead Spartans played host to the Eastway, the visitors getting off to their now trademark fast start. With the score at 2-4, manager Robert Hawkins got his team back on terms before the break and kick started a further 4 in a row to put his team on the hill. However, the visitors looked like they weren’t finished winning the next 2, but last year’s Spartan manager Kenny English made sure of the points. Best for the hosts Kenny English 2/2, Darren Lowe 2/2, Robert Hawkins 2/3 and for the visitors Ryan Whiteside 2/2, T Greer 2/3.
Back at the Swift Clare Roberts’ Warriors hosted Gordon McCormick’s Whitehead Trojans. With the score at 1-2 the Warriors found their range winning the next 5 and taking the sessions 5-2 & 4-3. Best for the hosts Gee Crawley 2/3, Derek Baird 2/2, T Kidd 2/3 and for the visitors Tyler McKee 2/3.
In Monkstown the Hit Men & Her played host to the Greenisland Working Men’s Club, with the visitors hoping to dazzle the in-form hosts by sporting their new colours. It wasn’t to be as the trio of Andy McMeekin, Paul Henderson and Sara Greenberg pulled out finishes for fun taking both sessions 4-3 & 5-2. Best for the hosts Paul Henderson 3/3, Sara Greenberg 2/3, Andrew McMeekin 2/3 and for the visitors Hugh Reagan 2/3.
The Teddy Bears played host to Hugh McMurtry’s Cowboys. Dee McIlwain soon found his team in an all-so-familiar position, 5-2 down at the break. In the second session the Teddy Bears got themselves in with a shout of a point. With the visitors on the hill at 5-7, up stepped young Jack McMurtry for his first taste of taking the points. He didn’t disappoint with the Teddy Bears taking a consolation last frame. Best for the visitors P McCaffrey 3/3 & A Corrigan 3/3.
