Big news this week at the top end of the CITY AIR EXPRESS Carrick & District Pool League. Galacticos who were steamrolling their way to the title with ten wins from ten matches, have lost at home to 2nd placed Cowboys and it is game very much on again. The match was all over after 10 frames as Hugh McMurtrys team from The Brown Cow Inn raced into an unassailable 8-2 lead. And the result was music to the ears of Swift manager Paul Roberts. His team thrashed 4th placed GWMSC 11-3 to narrow the gap at the top to 5 points. The match was tight enough with the Swift only leading 5-3 but they reeled off the final 6 frames of the match to secure all 3 points. Roberts himself and Dee Irwin both scored hat tricks. Spartans move up into 4th after a 9-5 home win over Michael Lowry's Barbarians. The hosts trailed 0-3 but ended the first session only one behind at 3-4, they won 6-1 in the second with manager Robert Hawkins notching a treble. Best for the Barbars was Craig Laughlin with 2/2 and John Barrons had a classy break and dish. Eastway make it 3 wins on the trot after winning both sessions (5-2, 4-3) for a solid 9-5 win away to Teddy Bears, but stablemates Alpha went down 1-13 at home to The 39ERS. Gary Cowan, Kyle Kirkwood and Neil Campbell all bagged hat tricks with Angie Acheson scoring the Alpha's consolation frame. Scorpions continue to climb the table this week courtesy of a comfortable 11-3 win against 2nd bottom Warriors and HM&H consolidate 6th position with a 9-5 home win over Whitehead Trojans.
