Galacticos have opened up a 5 point gap at the top of the City Air Express Carrick & District League table. They eased to a 10-4 win at home to Eastway as closest rivals GWMSC lost their first game of the season away to the improving Cowboys. Cowboy brothers Steven and Chris Carson were the toast of the Brown Cow Inn team as they won the last 2 frames with the match poised at 6-6. The Swift move up to second, albeit on frame difference, after a narrow 8-6 home win over Whitehead Spartans, winning both sessions 4-3. Stephen Johnston had two trademark 8 ball clearances for the visitors. In another close match Robert Hendersons HM&H edged out The 39ERS by another 8-6 scoreline. Hero of the hour was Ronnie Nelson who secured the points when he won the 13th frame of the match. Jonny Thompson's Scorpions are finally off the mark, winning 9-5 away to Alpha. Scorpions win sends Warriors to the foot off the table after they went down 4-10 at home to Barbarians. Warriors actually led 4-2 but collapsed dramatically losing the last 8 frames in a row. Barbars debutante Martin Stubbs scored 2/2 as did Rab Brown and Mark Porter. In the remaining fixture Tristan Scott-Heyes's Trojans team had a comfortable 10-4 win over Andy Lindsay's Teddy Bears. Neil McFaul scored a hat trick and both Stephen Hamilton and Gordon McCormick registered 2/2. Trojans soar to 5th, above stablemates Spartans in the table, which adds more spice to the big Whitehead derby match in two weeks time.
