Scorpions are top of the Christmas Tree

The rescheduled Times Bar Derby match between the Tigers and the Scorpions took place on Tuesday night.

At half time it looked to be plain sailing for the league leaders at 6-1. Darren Whiteside, Paul Kerr, Michael Wilson and Chris Carson took the first four frames before Steven Simpson stopped the rot with a reverse dish. Chris Carson and Lee McIlreavy took the last two frames of the first half.

Tigers captain had words with his players and they came out fighting in the second half winning 4 of the next 5 frames as Davy Montgomery swerved his last ball and then doubled the black to begin the come back. Stephen Simpson took the next and John Fulton took the next. Darren Whiteside put Scorpions on the hill at 7-4 before Stephen Simpson got his 3rd of the night. It was looking like 7-6 but the Tigers captain’s black juggled in the jaws gifting Chris Carson the frame and the Scorpions the points. Darren Whiteside made it 9-5 with a decent finish to a close match. Men of the match were Tiger's Stephen Simpson 3/3, Scorpions Chris Carson 3/3 and Darren Whiteside 3/3.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all at Carrickfergus and District Pool League sponsored by SKC Gaming.
