CITY AIR EXPRESS 2012/13 KNOCK OUT CUP FINAL
Monkstown HM&H 8-2 Rockers
In probably the biggest upset ever in the history of the Carrick & District Pool League, Monkstown HM&H are the new 2012/13 City Air Express Knock Out Cup Winners. Nobody gave them a hope against a Rockers team that could compete against any top League team in Northern Ireland, but Robert Henderson's team defied the odds to record a stunning victory. It wasn't just the victory but the manner in which they achieved it. Rockers didn't do too much wrong on the night, but Hit Men & Her were clinical in their finishing when asked the questions. It is the first ever trophy to grace the Monkstown Social Club and well deserved for this very dedicated group of players. The Monkstown's teams win gains them entry into the NIPA Champion of Champions Competition in mid 2013.
Frame by frame (HM&H in red, Rockers blue)
Frame 1. Precise finish from Paul Henderson once he gained the advantage.
Frame 2. Another flawless finish from new signing Andy McMeekin.
Frame 3. Finish of the night from Robert Henderson, absolute belter when he was looking down and out.
Frame 4. A gutsy trademark performance from Sara Greenberg makes it 4-0.
Frame 5. Paul Henderson continues the dream with another pressure finish.
Frame 7. Robert Henderson makes no mistake to give his team a 6-1 interval lead.
Frame 8. In the first frame in the second session Rab Butler edges Paul Henderson to give Rockers belief at 2-6.
Frame 9. Shaun McAlister was unlucky potting his last colour but landing tight on the black. Andy McMeekin held his nerve to clear up and put HM&H on the hill at 7-2.
Frame 10. Andy Arbuthnot goes in off on the break, it was to be Rockers last shot off the night as Glenn Russell took out an 8 ball clearance to send his team mates wild with delight. Final score 8-2.
