Tom Larmour's Eastway took the honours in the big Rathcoole "derby match" with a convincing 10-4 win. Also hitting 10 were Jonny Thompson's Scorpions against newcomers the Jolly Beggar. The Beggars acquitted themselves very well on their debut and once they get used to the competitive match environment they will only keep improving. Top scorers on the night for Scorpions were Colin Montgomery Sr and Colin Rafferty both on 3/3 whilst Kevin McElhome scored 2/2 for the visitors. Monkstown under the leadership of Robert Henderson ousted Greenisland 9-5 whilst Champions The Spartans got the defence of their trophy off to a good start with a 9-5 home win against the Teddy Bears. Star player for the Bears was 17 year old Stuart Kelly who won 2/3 and probably would have won 3/3 but he honestly called a foul against himself whilst in control of his first frame. Most peoples League favourites The Castle moved straight to the top of the table where they aim to stay with an 11-3 hammering of Michael Lowry's Barbarians. A great result for underdogs Whitehead Trojans up at The Cowboys as both teams shared the spoils, though from 7-5 up the visitors will feel a bit aggrieved at not heading down the coast again with all 3 points. MSC Trojans looked set for the 3 points at The Warriors as they led 7-4, but the hosts rattled of 3 in a row with Captain Clare Webster taking the all important 14th frame.
