Scorpions lift the Home & Away Cup in an epic final

The final of the home and away cup sponsored by SKC Gaming took place last night in the final leg at Times Bar. Scorpions (pictured left) hosted Q club and brought a 9-5 lead back home.

It seems like we have saved our most thrilling match of the season to the end.

Q Club were on a mission and notched up their first frame with well taken finishes from Ryan McKillop and Alan Johnston. Paul Kerr got one back for the Scorpions before another 3 on the bounce from Robert Hawkins, Ryan McKillop and Ryan Scott. Chris Carson took advantage of a rare unforced error from Ian McCalmont when the frame was at his mercy. 2-5 at half time and 11-10 on aggregate.

Sporting Alan Johnston called a foul on himself when no one in the room saw it. Lee McIlreevy finished well but the white was pocketed along with the black levelling the scores at 11-11.Ryan McKillop took his third victory of the night with another pinpoint finish to put the Q Club 11-12 up. Chris Carson and Darren Whiteside hit back to retake the lead13-12. It was looking like it would go all the way when Ryan Scott levelled once more after the most outrageous fluke of the night. The Scorpions had to dig deep once more and Chris Carson put the 14-13 up with a sublime finish. Darren Whiteside took the final frame much to the relief of the Scorpions massive.

The final score on the evening was Scorpions 6

Q Club 8. The Q Club men (Pictured Right) should be very proud of their gallant performance but over both matches.

The final score was 15-13 to the Scorpions and they are delighted to have done the clean sweep of winning all of the major trophies this season.
