On finals night Paul ousted the reigning champion Rab Butler
5-3.
In the other semi final Davy Blair took his chances and
overcame Colin Rafferty 5-3.
The Final was a
race to six and these attacking players were not hanging about.
Paul rips out an 8ball finish after one safety shot each.
Paul broke dry and Davy takes out an 8 ball finish to level
at 1-1.
Davy rips out another reverse dish after Paul puts white off
the table in 3rd frame to lead 2-1.
Paul levels at 2-2 in his first visit to the table after
Davy snookers himself on the black for a near dish.
Paul takes control after Davy attempts a reverse dish and
misses the black. 3-2 Paul.
Paul takes out a tasty finish to stretch the lead to 4-2.
Paul’s on the hill after another well executed finish 5-2.
Davy’s last red ball is in the laws of the corner pocket.
Paul’s last yellow ball is touching the black in the middle of the side
cushion. Seemingly there is no shot on. Paul
makes a tremendous treble cross to get a shot at the black and he calmly slots
it down the rail for the title.
Paul wins 6-2.
