In the players memorial competition the top half played it out in Whitehead.
Galacticos took on Q Club.
Ryan Scott ripped out a beautiful
finish to go one up after a slight stumble on the black. Scampi Made it two nil
before Gary Wallace quickly hit back. Neil McFaul and Ryan Marcus won the
doubles followed by a delightful finish in the second doubles match by Ali Wilson
and Trevor whiteside. Kenny English levelled the score before Ryan Marcus put
Galacticos on the hill. Alistair Wilson did the biz and Galacticos were in the
semis winning 5-3.
The other top-half quarter-final was contested by Times Bar Scorpions
and Legion Rockets.
Lee McIlreevy began with Scorpion intent as he broke and
routinely ripped out the first break and dish of the night. Rab Butler soon
levelled before Darren Whiteside took out a tasty finish to put the Scorpions
in front. Paul Kerr and Colin Rafferty broke and dished in the doubles with
Colin cutting his penultimate ball finely up the rail in off the opponent’s
ball to leave Paul plumb on the last ball.
Davy Blair and Dean Reid hit back with another sublime
finish bringing the arrears to 2-3. Lee Mcilreevy came through an epic tactical
frame and Colin Raffety put the Scorpions into the final swerving from a
snooker to pot his last ball and then the black. Scorpions win 5-2.
Semi final
Galacticos' Gary Wallace put the Greenisland men in front and
Colin Shot maker Rafferty soon levelled for Tigers Bay men. Trevor Whiteside ripped
out a lovely finish from the break hanging the black and soon putting the
Galacticos 2-1 up. Lee McIlreevy and Chris Carson levelled with a cheeky finish
as Chris put the black in off the Galactico’s yellow.
Gary Wallace and Trevor Whiteside won the next doubles match
before Darren Whiteside levelled once more. Chris Carson put Scorpions on the
hill before Colin Rafferty sliced in his last ball and freed the black from a
cluster landing perfectly for a tap in to the middle and securing a place in
the final.
Scorpions win 5-3
In Greenisland The bottom half of the league played it out too.
In the first Q/Final The Carrickfergus Bowlers took on the Highly Fancied Whitehead Trojans & Raced into a 4-2 lead in a Race to 5 the Trojans Dug Deep & wins for Stephen Quinn & Alan Corrigan levelled the Match 4-4 taking them into a deciding frame which was randomly drawn out. Bowlers' Ian Riley & Trojans' Stephen Quinn went head to HeadStephen came out on top in a thrilling one frame Shout Out to complete a 5-4 comeback to reach the Semi finals.
Times Bar Tigers were on red hot form beating both the Colts (5 - 2) and the Trojans (5 - 0) 2 almost flawless victories were it not for Colts Vice Captain Colin Beckinsale being the only player on the evening to pot 2 Blacks achieving 2 wins from 2 frames however the very on form Times Tigers had done enough to ensure their place in the forthcoming final.
