The second half went much the same as the first. It was 4-3 to Galacticos who were also in a derby match with the Colts. Galacticos flicked the switch and won the next 7 with a final score of 11-3 moving them to second place on 28 points.
Q Club kept open their dreams of a first Carrick League win with a hard fought victory over joint leaders the Rockets from Whiteabbey Legion. The match got off to a nervy start for both teams but it was the experienced Robert Hawkins doing what he does best and pinching the first frame to give the Larne men the lead. Despite having chances the Larne lads couldn’t take them and the Rockets took the next 4 frames with more scrappy pool on both sides. Recently crowned Larne Individual champion Ryan McKillop raised the standard though with a blistering hat trick with some excellent clearances in frames 6, 8 and 10. Ryan getting back to his best and will no doubt fancy his chances at an unique double when the Carrick Individuals are played on Saturday 22nd April. Q Club were now 6-4 in front aided by frames from AJ and Hawk too but the Rockets wouldn’t go away. Davey Blair pulled it back to 6-5 and a classy Andy Arbuthnot finish levelled the match. Robert Hawkins completed a superb hat trick to make it 7-6 in another tight frame with Rab Butler and it was Ian McCalmont who got the Larne team over the line as the clock ticked towards the midnight hour.
With two matches to go and it’s fair to say the Scorpions are clear favourites with the title destiny in their own hands. The other 3, Galacticos, Rockets and Q Club, will carry on though and hope an upset is on the cards.
