Week 5 Round Up

The 'Top of the Table' clash took place in McConnells of Doagh as Dragons hosted last year's, Champions Scorpions. Scorpions got off to a flyer with wins for Lee McIlreevy and Paul Kerr, but Dragons soon got back on track with nice finishes from Johnny Mackay, Kyle Kirkwood and Aaron Leslie. Rab McCullough brought the game back level before Alastair Wilson took Dragons ahead again, 4-3 at the break. Scorpions started the second half winning the first two frames to retake the lead with wins for Rab McCullough (Break and Dish) and Paul Kerr. Once again Dragons fought back with Michael Wilson denying Rab McCullough his hat trick. Kyle Kirkwood put Dragons back in the lead beating his opposite number Colin Rafferty. Lee McIlreevy (Break and Dish) got revenge against Alastair Wilson before Paul Kerr completed his hat trick against Aaron Leslie to take Scorpions to the hill and guarantee leaving Doagh with at least a draw. The final frame was a game between opposing captains Colin Rafferty and Kyle Kirkwood, but there was to be no win for Scorpions as Kirkwood won the lag and held his nerve to Break and Dish to maintain Dragons unbeaten start to the season and remain top of the League. Best for Dragons Kyle Kirkwood 3/3.Best for Scorpions Paul Kerr 3/3

Galacticos leapfrogged Scorpions into second place in the league with a convincing 10-4 win over Alpha, who cement their place at the bottom of the league.

Whitehead Trojans stay in contention in forth position but not without a scare in their fixture away to Times Tigers. The home side led 4-3 at the interval with some good finishing on the green baize but Tristan Scott-Heyes rallied his troops and a second session score of 6-1 gave the Trojans all three points. Chris Strain won 2/2 for Trojans as did Alan Corrigan for Tigers

Colts moved up to fifth Position with a convincing 9-5 away win over Hitmen and Her

There was a derby match in Whitehead Rangers between Vikings and Cockweasels. The first frame was won by Chris Hobson by fluking his last FOUR BALLS. The first half was finished with a great clearance by Thomas Fleming to make it 3 - 4 to the Cockweasels at half-time. The Vikings start the second half by winning the next 4 frames. The Vikings won frames 5 and 7 because the Cockweasels player was a no show. Aaron Rolston won frame 6 to give the Vikings the 8th frame to win. Final score was 10 – 4.
