League Week 1



RESULTS FROM TUESDAY 18th SEPTEMBER

The Carrick & District Pool League sponsored by Times Bar commenced their 2018/19 season on Tuesday 18th September.

The Vikings hosted Hit men & Her. The first frame was decided when Matt Thompson potted the black and the white, giving Andy McMeekin a win. Some great was pool played in next six frames. Ian McCalmont had a Break and dish. Aaron Rolston in his debut for the Vikings took out a great finish. The last frame of the first half was won by Hitman & Her Paul Henderson with a great clearance to make it 5 - 2 to Vikings. The Vikings won the first three frames of the second half. Aaron Rolston impressed again with his second win of the night. Vikings 10 Hitmen & Her 4

The Tigers and Scorpions met in the Times Bar derby. They went blow for blow in the first 7 frames. Scorpions led 4-3 at the interval. The second half saw Scorpions take a 6-3 lead. Tigers pounced back to 6-6 with wins for Stephen Simpson and debutants Davy Flanagan and Alan Corrigan. Lee McIlreevy put the Scorpions on the hill but the points were shared when Times Tigers’ Brian Boyd won his second of the night. Tigers 7 Scorpions 7

The Cockweasels hosted the Trojans in a Whitehead derby. The majority of the first seven frames were tight affairs. In frame four, the cue ball finished in the jaws of the corner pocket after Godron McCormick left the black over a corner pocket. Tristan Scott Heyes took out a tremendous long pot, before crossing his next ball and left himself the easy black. The second half went much the same way and the Trojans proved to be too strong on the night. Glenn Jones who took out a good clearance against Stevie Hamilton and take frame 12. Dragons travelled to Greenisland Galacticos. Dragons flew into a 3-0 lead before Galacticos took the next 3 frames. Michael Wilson took advantage of an unfortunate in off to put the dragons 3-4 up at the interval. The second half was another 3-4 scoreline although in the final frame, Galacticos’ Derek Whiteside missed a black to share the points and Kyle Kirkwood sealed the victory for the Dragons.

Colts travelled to Alpha. The home side did not take their chances in frames 2 & 5 missing the black ball in each frame and were soon 1-6 down. The Colts confidence grew stronger in the second half winning the second session 0-7 after another two more missed blacks in frames 9 & 11 to complete an impressive 1-13 victory and go top of the league.
