Champions Greenisland
Galacticos took to the road for the second night in a row, buoyed by
their Knock Out Cup semi-final triumph over the Teddy Bears the
previous evening, they travelled to the Eastway. As is becoming the
norm with the Eastway lads, the first half was a very tight affair
with the visitors edging it 4-3. After the break and with the scores
at 5 each, the champions moved up a gear winning the last 4 frames to
take the match 9-5. Best for the hosts was M Greer 2/3 and for the
host’s debutant S Hay 2/3, C Carson 2/3 & J McLean 2/3.
Over in Doagh the
Weapons entertained league leaders The Swift and, given recent
results, the Doagh men were looking to get back on track. However,
the visitors had other ideas as they reached the break with the loss
of only 2 frames. After the break the Weapons came out all guns
blazing winning 4 out of the next 6 and a chance to steal a point. Up
stepped Wayne Lewis sitting 2/2 on the night, but the hat-trick was
not to be as Swift manager Paul Roberts ripped out an 8 ball
clearance to take all 3 points back to Carrick. Best for the hosts J
Moore 2/2, W Lewis 2/3 and a cameo 1/1 from C Laughlin and for the
visitors P Roberts 2/2 & D Irwin 2/3 & a cameo 1/1 J
Meredith.
In a repeat of Monday
night’s Knockout Cup semi-final the Cowboys played host to The Hit
Men & Her. The match was looking like a reversal in fortunes for
the Hit Men as they had the chance to take all the points, only for
veteran Alan Corrigan to hold his nerve in the last. Best for the
hosts R McMurtry 2/3, T Leggett 2/3 & A Corrigan 2/3 and for the
visitors S Greenberg 2/2, A McMeeken 2/3 & P Henderson 2/3
The Scorpions hosted
the ever improving Teddy Bears , taking the first half 4-3 they then
kicked on winning the second session 5 2, best for the hosts P Kerr
2/2, D Haddock 2/3 & D Whiteside 2/3 and for the visitors C
McCrea 2/3.
Clare Roberts’ vastly
improving Warriors travelled to Greenisland to take on new boys the
Colts and they didn’t disappoint taking both sessions 5-2 with
hat-tricks for Johnny Johnston & Gee Crawley
Result
of the evening goes to the Greenisland Working Men’s Club as they
finally got their season up and running as they played host to third
placed Whitehead Spartans. With the visitors holding a slim lead at
the break 4-3 the hosts ran out the second session 6-1 thanks to a
fine hat-trick from Andy Galloway and braces for Rab Brown, Joe
Patton and Hugh Reagan. Best for the visitors K English 2/3
