Galacticos send out a message

Galacticos Pool Team
The Charity Shield signaled the start of the 2014/2015 season in the Carrick & District Pool League. And it was League Champions Galacticos who issued a statement of intent by defeating Knock Out Cup Winners Swift Bar in the match which was held in the Swift Bar, Carrick on Tuesday 26th August.

Result & report
Galacticos 8-4 Swift

Tonight kicked off the City Air Express Carrick & district Pool League season with the curtain raiser charity shield between last year’s group of mates out for a social gathering the Galacticos and the new boys on the block cup specialists The Swift.
A very tight 1st half seen both teams trade frames with an in off in the 7th frame giving Paul Roberts Swift team the edge at the interval 4-3
The Galacticos manager Derek Whiteside sent his team out for the second half with a spring in their step winning the next 5 frames for an 8-4 victory to win the Charity Shield.
Both teams produced a high level of pool in both safety and clinical clearances when the few chances presented themselves and the match was played with lots of mutual respect. If tonight was about blowing away the summer cobwebs the coming weeks and months ahead look to be at yet an even higher level for Carrick pool.

This year’s League charity chosen by the League delegates is the FRIENDS OF CANCER CENTRE at Belfast City Hospital, a very worthy cause indeed.
