They say a week is a long time in politics. Swift Pool Team must feel 24 hours is a long time on the green baize. After the euphoria of their fantastic win in the final of the Knock Out Cup the previous evening, they were thrashed 11-3 by Hugh McMurtrys Cowboys, a result that leaves any chance of Swift doing the "Double" now seem remote indeed. To the match, and it all started so well for Paul Roberts team as they took a 2-0 lead, but a 5 frame burst from the hosts gave the Cowboys a 5-2 lead at the interval. Roberts himself pulled one back for Swift but Cowboys reeled off all 6 remaining frames for an unlikely 11-3 win. There were hat tricks for Steven Carson, Alan Corrigan and Pete McCaffrey as Brown Cow Inn team move joint top of the League table. Leaders Galacticos failed to win for the 3rd match on the trot as the 39ERS came back from 5-7 down to take a point. Kyle Kirkwood was tops for the 39ERS with a fine hat trick which included the important 14th frame. Best for Galacticos were Johnny Mackay and dean McDonagh both on 2/2. Spartans stay 4th after an impressive 11-3 away win at Eastway. New signing Eddie Gribben had 3x 8 ball clearances in a superb hat trick. Tom Larmour, Trevor Greer and David Flanagan all took out fine finishes for Eastway's 3 frames. Barbarians had a comfortable 11-3 home win over bottom team Alpha, session scores were 6-1 and 5-2, Angie Acheson scored 2 of the visitors 3 frames on the night. HM&H cruised to an 11-3 home win against Warriors and GWMSC took 3 points after an 8-6 away win at Whitehead Trojans. Andy Lindsay's Teddy Bears had one of their best results of the season so far in a 7-7 draw away to Scorpions. They trailed 4-7 with only 3 to play but took all 3 for a hard earned point. Rab Brown won the all important 14th frame and young Stuart Kelly had a fine hat trick for the Bears.

The next set of fixtures will be on Tuesday 7th January. Until then, a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to everyone from the Committee of CITY AIR EXPRESS Carrick & District Pool League
