A fixture both sides always look forward to with great friendships and bonds established between the players. On this occasion though the Tigers seemed determined to get off to a fast and winning start, wins for Stephen Simpson, John Fulton, Scott Pettigrew, Kye Robinson and Stephen McWhirter had the Tigers 5-0
up. The last 2 frames were shared with Rab Brown getting the Blues off the mark and Stephen Simpson taking his second win of the night to leave half time score 6-1!!
Stephen McWhirter got the second half off to a winning start for the Tigers before a nice clearance from Wes Smith reduced the deficit to 7-2. That was as good as it got for the Blues though!! Wins for John Fulton (with a notable 8 ball clearance), Scott Pettigrew, Johnny Eccles, Tom McGurk and Kye Robinson taking the last five frames!!
Final score
Tigers 12 Blues 2
Notable performances from Stephen Simpson, John Fulton, Stephen McWhirter, Scott Pettigrew and Kye Robinson each with 2 wins from 2 games.
Great night as usual and I’m sure the Blues will hope to revenge the result when the sides meet again later in the season
Last years Players Memorial Champions, Times Bar Scorpions also had a convincing 2-12 win away to a strong Granges side in Grange Ballyclare (1) Facebook
Our first live streamed match of the season was selected because on paper it was to be an epic and very close encounter. Unfortunately Granges had a few of their first team players out.
The first four frames were shared before Paul Kerr Kick started the Scorpions into gear with a sublime break and dish in frame 5. Times Bar Scorpions went on to win the next 9 frames on the trot. 3/3 for Paul Kerr and Lee McIlreevy. 2/2 for Darren Whiteside and Stephen Johnston.
In the Whitehead Derby the Trojans hosted the Spartans. The Trojans, with 3, very welcome, new signings got off to a flyer,
quickly going 4-0 up with wins from Gary Fitzsimmons, Gordon McKinty, Stevie
Hamilton and Chris Hobson. The Spartans fired back with 5 frames on the bounce,
with wins from Paddy Graham, Kenny English, Alan Johnston, Mark Millar and Alan
Johnston again, before the Trojans stopped the rot and levelled at 5-5. The
final 4 frames were hard fought affairs and were shared between the 2 teams,
for a fair result on the night of 7-7. Best for Trojans were Stevie Hamilton
and Chris Hobson with 2/2. Best for Spartans were Kenny English with 2/2 and
Alan Johnston and Mark Millar both with 2/3.
