The first semi final saw Carrickfergus’ Joe Patton take on Whitehead’s Stevie Hamilton.
It looked like J Patton was going to have a comfortable path to the final. He raced into a 3-0 lead (in the race to 4), A missed opportunity in the fourth frame enabled Hamilton to take full advantage and pull one back. Hamilton won the next to go within one 3-2 down. Patton came through to win the match 4-2 and secure his place in the final.4
The Second semi final was between Carrickfergus’ Gary McClure and Greenisland’s Harry Warwick. McClure struck first and soon doubled his lead. Warwick hit back taking the next 3 to lead 2-3. Harry had a great chance to win the match 2-4, with the black ball sitting beside the bottom pocket. Harry went for a cross on his last ball but didn’t hit it hard enough. Gary finished to draw level and won the final frame to book his place in the final.
The Final was a Race to 5
In the first 3 frames Patton’s safety was too strong for McClure and eased to a 3-0 lead. Gary McClure won the fourth frame 3-1. Patton went on to win the next two frames to secure the match 5-1 & Title of SKC Gaming NI Carrick Pool League Grandmaster 2025.
