Carrick & District Pool League sponsored by SKC Gaming movers and shakers from week 2:
Q Club opened their home campaign up with a visit from new boys Rockets To Be from Whiteabbey Legion.
Q Clubs trusted opener Tyler McKee got the Larne men rolling with a fine finish in the first frame that was soon doubled by Ciaran O’Toole. The next two frames were nervy and shared, John Rainey pipping Rorie McAllister and Q Club’s Andrew Ferguson marking his debut frame with a fine black.
Q Club then took command of the match thanks to the in-form Ryan McKillop firing in a quick fire hat trick to help keep the 3 points at home. Tyler McKee would also complete a solid double as the last couple of frames were shared to see a 10-4 home win.
Overall a solid home win but watch out for the Rockets who will no doubt start picking up points as the lads get use to Blackball rules and league pool in general led in the capable hands of Mark Porter. Man of the match - Ryan McKillop. Whether it be a money match, shootout, Open Handicap or league pool there isn’t much stopping the in-form McKillop at the minute. This result keeps Q Club in second place as Rockets To Be drop to 11th in the league.
The Railway Blues took on Colts. Blues started well with wins from Ryan Stewart and Sammy Duff. Joe Patton pulled a frame back with some great tactical shots. The Blues won another two frames on the bounce with wins from Sammy and Kenny Crawford. The first session ended 4-3 after 2 good frames from Colin Beckinsale and Aaron Watters.
The Railway Blues took the first three frames for the second session with wins from Sammy, Ryan and Craig Laughlin. Colts bounced back again with wins from Harry Warwick and Aaron Watters to take the game to 7-5. Craig Laughlin then took the railway blues to their first competitive win with a good finish. Joe Patton won the final frame for the colts to secure a bonus point. 8-6 to the railway blues a great match played a good spirit. Colts move down to 6th and Railway Blues move from the foot of the table to 8th spot.
QE2 Cubs hosted the Scorpions who started well with a nice finish from Chris Carson and Paul Kerr. Cubs hit back with a brace of their own with wins for Riley Patterson and a fabulous finish for Jude Dalrymple to level the score. The next two frames were shared with one for lee McIlreevy and one for Joel Quinn. The final frame of the first half was a break and dish from the mercurial Paul Kerr to give Scorpions a single frame advantage going into the second half. The second half started much like the first with wins for Chris Carson and Paul Kerr before Gerard Heaney stopped the rot. That was to be the last frame on the board for the Cubs as Scorpions stepped up a gear and won the next four frames including a reverse dish from the stylish Colin Rafferty.
Final Score Cubs 4 Scorpions 10 with hat tricks for Paul Kerr and Chris Carson. Scorpions move up to 3rd in the league and Cubs move down to 9th.
the league's early pace setters, Galacticos hosted Tigers
Galacticos made two changes with Aaron Rolston and Derek Whiteside coming in for Gee Crawley and Ali Wilson.
Young Rolston announced his arrival with a nice finish to put the home team one up before Tom McGurk equalised for the visitors with a sublime pot from a snooker, leaving him plum on the black. The visitors went 4-1 down without much table time as Roger Smyth capitalised on a wayward white from the break to dish with his two visits. Not to be outdone Neil Mcfaul broke and dished before Rolston reverse dished. Smyth took the next before Whiteside gave the home side a seemingly unassailable lead at half time, capitalising on an unfortunate in off from Steven Simpson.
The second half began with Smyth guaranteeing the draw before McGurk got his second of the evening. Any hope of a late comeback was quickly squashed as Rolston and Mcfaul put the Galacticos over the line. Davy Montgomery and Simpson pulled two back for the visitors before Mcfaul continued last year's sterling form to give the home side another big win. This big win cements Galacticos to the top of the league and Tigers to the foot of the table.
Rab & Big T's Rockets won 11-3 against Bay City Bowlers. Rockets move up to 5th and Bay City Bowlers down to 10th.
Spartans went down 5-9 Trojans in the Whitehead derby. Sparans went from 3rd last week to 7th this week, while Trojans moved up to 4th.
