League Week 17
Dragons are still unbeaten and it was virtually plain
sailing again last night against the Cockweasels 11-3. Best Dragons on the
night were Kyle Kirkwood Ali Wilson and Craig Laughlin scoring 2/2. Chris
Hobson and Gordy McCormick both registered 2/3 for the Cockweasels.
The battle for the second place is hotting up. Going into
last night’s games Galacticos and Scorpions were on exactly the same amount of
points and frame difference.
Scorpions took on Vikings in Whitehead and the Times Bar
team were always in control, leading 6-1 at half time and eventually winning
11-3. Best for the Scorpions were Paul Kerr and Lee McIlreavey both getting hat
tricks.
Galacticos (who were keeping an eye on the league app as the
frame scores were coming through) took on (the Scorpions’ stable mates) Times
Bar Tigers. Galacticos were 6-1 up at half time and won the second session by
the same score to move clear in second place on frame difference. Best on the
night were Gary Wallace, Neil McFaul and Rab Butler 3/3 for Galacticos.
Whitehead Trojans travelled up to the Colts in Greenisland also
harbouring ambitions of a podium placed league finish. It started off as
planned as the visitors raced into a 3-0 lead before Paul Watters registered
Colts first frame. By the break Trojans led 5-2 and an Ed McDowell break and
dish in rack 8 was the catalyst for another strong showing in the second
session for Tristan Scott-Heyes' team and they ran out 11-3 winners. Colts will
be thinking "what if" for two hung blacks. Best for the hosts was
Aaron Watters on 2/3 with Kenny English registering 3/3 for Trojans.
Hitmen & Her v Alpha was postponed.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
WITH ONLY ONE FIXTURE REMAINING (MAXIMUM 3 FRAMES PER PAYER) IT IS A THREE HORSE RACE. LEE MCILREAVY AND GARY WALLACE ARE ON 31 POINTS WITH PAUL KERR ON 27 POINTS. WHAT AN EXCITING END TO A FANTASTIC SEASON
