Players Memorial Shield Times Teams Are Final Two

Players Memorial Shield

This competition is in memory of players who graced our league but are no longer with us. Sadly, this season year our former Chairperson, Brian Carson left us and joined the list of Pool players in our memories. We will fondly remember them.

The bottom half of the league played in Whitehead. Vikings were 4-1 up at half time before Colts stormed back to 5-5 to force a single frame shoot out which Aaron Watters won to put the Colts into the semi finals.
Tigers played Cockweasels in another tight affair. The match went to 5-5 and Chris Carson won the play off frame to put Tigers into the semi finals.
In the semi final Tigers came out of the blocks quickest and were soon 4-0 up. Colts took a couple of consolation frames but the Times Bar Tigers were simply too strong and won 6-2 to reach their first final of the season.
In the top half played at Greenisland WWMC.
Dragons faced Hitmen & Her in a preliminary match. Hitmen took both halves 3-2 to secure their place in the quarter finals, 6-4.
Hitmen & Her were up against the reigning champions, Times Bar Scorpions in the quarters. In a ding dong battle with the scores going from 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, the Scorpions dug deep. At 5-4 up Darren Haddock played a sublime exhibition shot to pot the black into the middle off the top cushion to secure a semi for the Scorpions.
Galacticos took on Trojans. From 2-2 the Galacticos stormed to a 6-2 victory to reach the semis.
The semi final was another great match. Scorpions raced to a 4-0 lead before being pegged back to 5-4 by Galacticos. In the last frame of the evening up stepped Paul Kerr, with the black just off it’s spot, escaping from a snooker, off of the top rail and rifled the black into the yellow pocket, sending his team mates into the final.
The final will be contested in Times Bar on 14th May at 8:00 pm between Tigers and Scorpions who both play from the same venue, Times Bar.
