-- Rockers unbeaten League record came to an end when they entertained Whitehead Spartans in this 1st v 2nd clash in Whiteabbey RBL. Rockers could have been forgiven for any complacency after last weeks results seen them establish a 6 point lead at the top with a game in hand and a far superior frame difference. Spartans on the other hand may have felt more relaxed. It seemed to be the latter in the early stages as the visitors raced into a 4-0 lead with wins from R.Hawkins, S.Johnston x2 (including an 8 ball clearance) and M.Wilson. D.Irwin registered the first frame for the hosts albeit from M.Wilson unluckily potting the black mid frame. But wins from father and son act Bill McIlroy Sr (8 ball clearance) & Jr gave Spartans an unexpected 6-1 lead at the half way stage. Back came Rockers, Captain A.Arbuthnot with a precise 8 ball clearance and a D.Irwin win. With the score now at 6-3 the next frame was crucial and McIlroy Jr ripped out the 4th 8 ball clearance of the match to ensure Spartans at least a point. J.Johnston reduced the arrears to 4-7 but McIlroy Jr completed his hat trick when he took advantage of an in off to make it 8-4. Rockers won the last 2 frames with a classy break and dish from Arbuthnot and another Johnston win and are now 3 points clear with a game in hand.
--What a match we had in the big Monkstown derby, HM&H determined to put the disappointment of the previous night Cup Semi Final exit firmly behind them, dominated the first session to lead 5-2. They needed only 2 frames after the interval to be assured of at least a point. But the Trojans had other ideas and took the session 6-1 to claim all 3 points and the bragging rights. it was the 2nd week running they had taken the last 4 frames of the match for an 8-6 win. Kyle Kirkwood notched a fine hat trick which included an 8 ball clearance in the vital 14th frame.
-- Scorpions warmed up for the Home & Away Cup Final with a convincing win at Whitehead Trojans. They won both halves 5-2 with 2 hat tricks for P.Gingles and captain J.Thompson.They now take 5th position in the table ahead of HM&H.
-- Greenisland thumped Alpha 12-2 to move up into 3rd, R.McCullough bagging yet another hat trick.
--Eastway put in their best performance of the season by travelling to Greenisland and seeing off the Barbarians 10-4.
-- Cowboys only dropped 1 frame at Warriors and Andy Lindsay's Teddy Bears overcame Jolly Beggar by 9-5 to leapfrog Barbarians in the table into 9th spot.
-- Castle had a bye this week
