Whitehead Trojans v Bye
- If Andy Arbuthnot's Rockers do go on to win the League this season, and they are now hot favourites, they will probably look back at this match as being pivotal. The much improved MSC Trojans team travelled up to Whiteabbey RBL and nearly came away with a result. They raced out of the blocks to lead 5-2 at the interval and then by 6-3, needing only 1 out of the last 5 for a draw. But Rockers showed why they are unbeaten in the League all season by winning the last 5 frames of the match to take all 3 points and maintain their 6 point lead at the top of the table. Rab Butler scored a vital hat trick for the hosts on the night.
- Castle's title ambitions took a nosedive in the big derby match in Greenisland. They led 6-4 with only 4 to play, but didn't register another frame and Greenisland ran out 8-6 winners with the experienced Joe Patton scoring a fine hat trick.
- Spartans cling on to their bid to retain the title, but only just. On paper what looked an easy home banker turned out very different as winless Jolly Beggar took a 5-4 lead and should have made it 6-4. But Spartans tails went up when they levelled at 5-5 and they ran out the last 4 frames of the match. Stephen Johnston and Michael Wilson both scored 2/2 for the hosts whilst best for the Beggar was Colin Beckinsdale on 2/3.
- Barbarians entertained Warriors and struggled to get over the line after leading comfortably. They needed to win the 14th and final frame of the evening to do so and Pete Akehurst duly obliged.
- Cowboys also needed the 14th frame before claiming the important 3 points against Teddy Bears, Peter McCaffrey was the hero of the hour in that one.
- Hit Men & Her consolidated 5th place in the League table with a 10-4 win at home to Eastway.
- The Scorpions romped to an 11-3 win at Alpha and Whitehead Trojans had a bye this week.
The League is now on it's Xmas break. The first fixture back (excluding any re-arranged games) is Tuesday 8th January 2013 when Round 1 of the Home & Away Cup takes place.
Managers are reminded that no transfers or signings are allowed after 31st December for the rest of the season.
